Keeping The Carpet Clean

Carpets tend to absorb dirt, stains and animal hair as well as mould and mildew. Taking good care of your carpet will prevent dust mites, lice and carpet bugs from living there. If you experience carpet problems due to dust, insects, and other problems, you can contact us at tile cleaning service company, who are experienced in this matter.

Well, here are some ways to keep your carpet clean:

1 Suck the carpet with a vacuum cleaner regularly. You can buy a quality vacuum that can suck up dirt from the carpet fibres, especially if you have furry rugs or you have cats and dogs. Regular vacuuming makes your carpet look and smell fresh.

-Suck up carpet dust several times a week. If you have a pet, you may need to vacuum it every day.
-Do not do the vacuum in a hurry. Even high-powered vacuum takes time to suck dust, dirt and hair from the carpet fibre base. Run a vacuum on the carpet more than once to make sure it’s really clean.

2 Protect the part of the carpet that is often bypassed. If your carpet reaches the front door, kitchen, or other areas of your house that tend to be frequently traversed, consider protecting the area by installing a protective plastic flooring or carpet. That way you will not bother to clean the dirt and grass clippings with a vacuum cleaner every day.

-Rubber protective plastic has a bonus that allows the carpet to remain visible through the clear plastic. This is a not-too-obvious way to protect your carpet from dirt.
-Use a narrow carpet for the halls, which tend to be often traversed.

3 Clean up spills immediately. Allowing spills to soak into the carpet until it dries on its own will make it more difficult to remove residue. If you deal with spills immediately, you will save a lot of time.

-Use a clean cloth or paper towel to absorb the spill, then pour baking soda over the area and leave it for 15 minutes. When the spill is completely dry, you can vacuum it.
-If the wine or liquid has spilt, add a little soda before sprinkling baking soda.

4 Learn the right techniques for removing old stains. Sometimes it is difficult to remove stains immediately. If you are faced with old wine or coffee stains, don’t panic; many carpets are prepared with anti-stain chemicals, so stains are usually not too difficult to clean. Use a spray bottle containing vinegar to spray a small area with a stain and then wipe it off with a cloth. For deeper stains, saturate the area with vinegar or carpet cleaner, sprinkle with baking soda and vacuum the area after the baking soda dries.

– Don’t try to rub the stain on the carpet. Rub on the carpet will damage the fibres and make the area stained look worse.
-Do not spray stained areas with too much vinegar, water or other liquids. If it seeps too deep into the carpet when it dries, it can cause mould growth.
-The thinner carpet can be effectively cleaned using a mixture of lemon and salt. Carefully clean the stained area to avoid different colours remaining on the carpet.
