Standing For Too Long Affect Our Health Negatively

Although standing is a natural posture for the body, doing it for long periods without movement (static) can cause several health problems. This makes a lot of people prefer to take small breaks from time to time, or simply using a special type of mat to reduce pain when standing up. Additionally, if you own a restaurant and your worker stands up for a long time to wait for customers, you can give him or her some anti fatigue mats for restaurants.

Some health problems that arise from the effects of standing too long, including:

1. Muscle Pain

The standing position reduces blood flow to the muscles that need it. If you stand for too long, your muscles can get tired. Over time, pain can appear, especially in the muscles of the legs, back, neck, and shoulders.

2. Joint Pain

Not only muscles but joints will also be affected. Standing for too long can result in impaired joint lubricant production. This situation makes the joints unable to work optimally so that they will feel stiff and painful.

3. Varicose veins

Blood cannot flow properly in the legs and feet when standing for too long. This might cause the veins to be inflamed. If left unchecked, the inflammation can cause varicose veins in the veins. Symptoms are veins that appear enlarged, swollen, and painful.

4. Heart Disease

Research published in the American Journal of Epidemiology says workers who spend most of their time standing have a higher risk of heart disease.

Those are bad effects of standing for too long. Remember that standing up for an extended period can negatively strain your body. Therefore, don’t forget to take small breaks from time to time so you will not put too much burden on your body. Aside from that, there are also various anti-fatigue mats that you can use to reduce the burden of standing for too long. These mats are soft, comfortable, and also reducing the pain that your legs might feel when you are standing up for a long time during work.
